America is Dying
Fast!
And Paying for it!
By Paul M. Otten, Editor
Americans spend $1.8 trillion a year on healthcare.
That amounts to over $6.000 per person per year.
Or over $17.00 per person per day.
$17.00 per person per day!!!
Or about 16% of everything you and the entire nation earns!
Not only that, the rate is growing rapidly, we are becoming sicker and sicker, and the whole thing is unsustainable both from the health and financial perspective. It is sinking individuals, corporations and the entire U.S. government into insolvency.
And it should
because the direction of the present healthcare system is for its own perpetuation. It needs and feeds off health degeneration. The system would shrink with prevention and positive health.
Fifty years ago Americans spend only 4.5% of their income on healthcare and 19% on food - much of it still real food from local family farms, largely raised without synthetic pesticides. Does anyone ever stop to think and ask we are rewarding the system for ever greater degeneration without a reversal in sight.
The healthcare system as currently operating is for the growth and profitability of health insurance companies, pharmaceutical giants, and the colossal, expensive and counterproductive healthcare system of this country.
Have you ever noticed you pay whether you loose or win, whether you get sicker or somehow regain health? No other profession, outside of attorneys, has been successful in legally charging exorbitant prices regardless of the outcome. If airlines, home builders, car manufacturers, repair shops and other industries operated that way
. Well, it's unthinkable!
Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. We are continuing to employ all sorts of highly sophisticated diagnostic technology, coupled with toxic chemistry of patented prescription drugs and expecting healthy results. We are doing more and more of the same and somehow expecting better results. By the definition of Albert Einstein, that borders on insanity.
We are investing less than half of what our grandparents spent on food - much of it not real food - and expecting to get and stay healthy. Health comes from the farm, not the pharmacy. Real food, whole food, fresh from the farm food does not cause obesity. Traditional whole food nourishes and builds health. Refined and highly processed junk, no mater how glaringly packaged and excitingly advertised, causes obesity and degeneration because it cannot build and sustain health.
If you appreciate health and wellbeing, if you dislike the idea of spending twice as much on managing disease than building health, then invest in health now. Commit yourself to nourishing your body with wholesome food. (It's the only one you'll ever have, so treasure and steward it as best you can.) You can't build a quality body with junk. That's why there is all too much truth in the saying that The more frequently you go through the Golden Arches, the sooner you get to the pearly gates. Besides, wouldn't is be more enjoyable to arrive at the pearly gates in great health than in total degeneration? It's your choice
at least to some extent! I wish you WELL!
